About

My name is Heather McGee. I handcraft one-of-a-kind leather goods from new and recycled materials and restore and transform old leather goods for longer life. I also like to create cooperative projects with local artists (airbrushers, cartoonists, photographers, et cet).

I work in a combination of traditional and eco-friendly leathers, dyes, and finishes but am trying to transition exclusively to eco-leather, organic leather, and recycled leather. Animals, tannery workers, and the environment — all deserve to be treated well and protected. I also do chainmaille and sometimes work with fur. I am an advocate for fair-chase hunting, harvesting animals humanely and with a purpose, science-based wildlife management, efforts to prevent extinction and poaching, animal rescues, and humane treatment of and respect for all animals.

My workshop is in Palmer, Alaska — where I live with my husband and our shelter cat, Corporal Sexy, a.k.a. Dude the Bagman, a.k.a. Poo Feet.

I also have a little vintage shop, where I sell books, housewares, curios, and what-not:
