This good-looking and heavy-duty overnight bag is a Tandy kit with 6-7 oz (light) and 8-9 oz (dark) North American bison. I assembled this for myself originally and took it on one trip, but as I have severe neck arthritis it is a bit too much weight when full for me. Note it weighs 5 pounds.
I did not bevel nor burnish the edges because I really like the rough look of this full-grain leather. Assembled with waxed thread and copper rivets and burrs and features antique brass buckles and snaps. There are gusset adjustment straps with keeper slots on the sides that cinch the top so your stuff doesn’t fall out. The handle has a comfort wrap, and the flap is adjustable, depending on how much you are carrying. The base is 18×8″ and the bag expands to hold a surprising amount of stuff!
I created a handmade custom muslin bag with drawstring for storage so you can keep the overnight bag nice when not in use. It’s going to be pretty weather-resistant and durable, but you should use a good cleaner/conditioner on it a couple times a year. A weatherproof product won’t hurt if it will see heavy use in extreme conditions. This is definitely a buy-it-once forever bag.
